Harry Kane sets new scoring record for England

English striker scores twice in Bayern Munich's win over Eintracht Frankfurt

Kane now has 54 international goals, surpassing Wayne Rooney as England's all-time leading scorer

Harry Kane has set a new scoring record for England, surpassing Wayne Rooney as the country's all-time leading scorer. The English striker scored twice in Bayern Munich's 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, taking his international tally to 54 goals.

Kane's first goal came in the first half, when he headed home a cross from Joshua Kimmich. His second goal came in the second half, when he tapped in a rebound from a shot by Robert Lewandowski. The goals were Kane's 24th and 25th for Bayern Munich this season, and they took his overall tally for the club to 102 goals in 225 appearances.

Kane's record-breaking goal came on the same day that he was named England captain. The 29-year-old striker has been in impressive form for both club and country this season, and he will be hoping to lead England to success at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
