2005 Kashmir Earthquake

The devastating 2005 Kashmir earthquake occurred at 085039 Pakistan Standard Time on 8 October 2005 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a territory under Pakistan's administration.

Measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale, the earthquake struck an area about 100 kilometers northeast of Islamabad, causing widespread destruction.

The earthquake claimed the lives of over 87,000 people, displaced around 3.5 million, and damaged or destroyed countless buildings and infrastructure.

2019 Kashmir Earthquake

On 24 September 2019, another major earthquake struck the Kashmir region, with an epicenter in Azad Kashmir.

Registering a magnitude of 5.6, the earthquake caused significant damage and loss of life.

Over 40 people were killed and hundreds more injured. Several buildings collapsed, and roads and infrastructure were damaged.
