Daemon and the Sea Snake battle the Crabfeeder. The realm celebrates Aegon's second nameday.

Queen Alicent (Emily Carey) is pregnant with her second child and Lord Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) now has a direct line to the throne that he can use to manipulate King Viserys (Paddy Considine) and the realm as he sees fit.

The time jump was necessary to move the story forward, but it also raised some questions about the characters and their motivations.

"The first two episodes were very much about setting up the characters and the world," said Condal. "But with episode three, we really start to get into the meat of the story. We start to see the characters making choices that will have far-reaching consequences."

"The time jump was a way to show how the characters have changed over the years," said Sapochnik. "They've become more mature, more powerful, and in some cases, more dangerous."

Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen, said that he was "excited" to see how the character would evolve after the time jump. "He's a very complex character, and I think he's going to do some really interesting things in the future."

The time jump in "Viserys" was a bold move that paid off. It allowed the show to move the story forward while also giving the characters a chance to grow and develop.
